Health and Safety (Risk Assessment)

There wasn't many health and safety risk during my animation creating, although there were some, all of which I took into consideration, as I was only using a bamboo tablet and a laptop, the main hazards were electricity - making sure plugs for charging the laptop were securely in position and the switch turned off before unplugging and plugging in, making sure bags and drinks were away from both the bamboo and laptop, and wires were all tucked away to avoid trip hazards for myself or others around.

Where am I in my animation?

So far for my animation I have one minute and 8 seconds, this consists of a variety of animation techniques such as stop motion and rotoscoping, I have 4 different rotoscoped sequences, 2 are of Harley Davidson motorbikes riding down a road, and the other 2 are of horses, 1 of a horse show jumping, the other of a horse racing. The stop motion is of the title sequence and also of the credits sequence at the end. I have also completed the music, which is from the song ACDC - shook you all night long - half way through the song and also the beat at the beginning for the title sequence, which I cut up and put together in the software audition.

Process and Equipment set up

1) The equipment that I have been using is my laptop alone for the rotoscoping and also a bamboo tablet to complete the drawings on in Photoshop, for the stop motion part which is the credits and also the title of the video, I used a camera and a camera pole which the camera was attached to, and just took loads of photos of my letters I cut out from paper after printing, and placed them on a white sheet of paper all in place, then worked backwards by taking them away for each new photo.

Progess

I have progressed far in my animation as I have 1 minute and 8 seconds worth of animation, both consisting of Stop Motion and also rotoscoping, 30 minutes of my animation is rotoscoped whilst the other 30 minutes and 8 seconds is Stop Motion. It includes 2 scenes of motorbikes and also three scenes of horse, there is a variation between the motorbikes and the horses, as some of the horses are galloping race horses, and others are show jumping horses, and with the motorbikes I have used different angles of the motorbike driving along the road, and also different shots with different numbers of motorbikes.

Current Trends

1) Current Trends Diagram:

2) My animation fits into current trends as it had a sense of adventure and comedy and is also a 3D animation therefore more often watched than 2D it is computer animated which is again more on the marketplace now days, the characters are all animal featured, which is what is being focused on in the marketplace at this time, for people and children find it funny and eye catching, it is similar t brer rabbit which used to be a known film, but mine will be a more modern stylized animation therefore catching today's market. I believe my animation will be popular as it will be  modern styled cartoon and also a 3D computer animated animation, and entertaining and funny for the children to watch.
3) I would like to show my show on channel 5 (milkshake) during the morning at about 7 am or 4 pm, therefore children can watch it either in the morning before school eating breakfast, or when they get home after school whilst eating lunch before going outside to play.

Idea for Animation

1) Inspiration:
My inspiration is... Nothing. I came up with my idea whilst sitting on a bus on the way home from college, My idea consists of hobbies of mine, therefore inspiring me to do an animation involving a variety of my hobbies, that I enjoy doing and also that I enjoy watching others do. My animation id going to be rotoscoped and consist of a variety of 'riding' sports (sports that are either ridden or controlled or driven by a driver), such as motorbike riding - dirt bike riding, by a friend to get the footage, Harley Davidson (motorbike) riding by friends of family bikers, also snowboarding which will be of my brother, and horse riding by friends, horse jumping by a friend of the family, bike riding and skateboarding by family.

2) How I am going to do this?
I am going to do this by involving sports that I know i can get the footage of by myself, by using sports that I have either family relatives or friends involved in, that way I know that I can get the footage myself, and also I already have the contacts and resources that i need to collect the footage.

3) Who with?
I am creating the actual animation by myself, as I find it easier to work by myself, rather than with other people, and that way I can be responsible and know what is done and what is not done. I will be working with other people in as far as they ill be starring in my animation performing all of the pieces for my footage, for me to rotoscope for my animation.

4) Design - What it's going to look like?
My animation is going to be rotoscoped

Episode Structure (Detailed)

Fred the Rabbits Christmas Special:
In this episode Fred comes out of his burrow and finds that there is snow everywhere and that it is christmas, and all of the fern trees have grown and have snow covering them so that it looks all Christmassy, he is woken up by some snow following into his burrow from how much snow there is which falls on him and wakes him up from the cold whilst he is snuggled up in bed. He then goes to look around the forest to see if anyone else is awake for christmas, and finds a reindeer wandering around the forest, so Fred goes up to him to ask why he is there, as there is not usually reindeer walking around the forest only common deer, and the reindeer tells him that he is called Dasha and got lost when Santa's sleigh crashed and that he needs to find Santa to help deliver all of the presents to the young boys and girls, Dasha manages to persuade Fred to help him go find Santa as Dasha does not know where to go, because he doesn't come on to the ground only flys in the sky. They go off to start looking for Santa, and have to overcome loads of forest obstacles to get to where Santa is, also they are only going the direction that Dasha thinks the sleigh fell as there are no clear signals as to where the sleigh fell. They have to go across a frozen river, and have to get through the thick snow that covers the ground, which Dasha finds very difficult as he is used to flying in the sky with nothing else other than clouds. They also have to deal with the bear and the mouse, who are trying to stop fred from helping Dasha reach Santa. They alos have to find somewhere to sleep during the night time, as they are both far from their home and natural habitat, climbing mountains, and looking for the way asking other forest animals for directions and if anything has been seen, looking for tracks. At the end they find Santa's sleigh and manage to return Dasha to Santa, and get all of the presents to the young boys and girls in time for christmas, they also return Fred to his burrow, and Dasha and Fred become best friends in their adventure.

Representation and Ethics in Cartoons

Why does the write of the article believe Rio 2 is problematic in terms of its representation?
The write of this article finds many problems with the film Rio 2 such as the two main characters are voiced by white Americans and the comedy characters are voiced by Black oriental actors, which is stereotyping the black accent (funny voices). The writer believes this to back up the Wal Disney's history for being racist.

What are PEPs and why are they an issue for racial representation?
PEPs are problem contexts, entertainment contexts and performance contexts. This is to show the racial context in voice acting for films such as Rio 2 or Madagascar etc. having White Americans as the hero and African Blacks as the comedic characters.

Why does Da Costa believe we end up with stereotypes in animation?
Da Costa suggests that the reason for the racial casting is because they do not have enough time to cast according  therefore they go by a picture and just deal with it, for example a man with a sombrero can be voiced by a mexican.

What Turbo say about social mobility?
Turbo has been said to be racist because, the main character is voiced by a White American, yet all of the people who help him are played by Blacks.
